Rewards and Consequences

Positive and negative reinforcement is important to maintain classroom management within the classroom. I will apply both to my students.  I will be utilizing the a stoplight technique for managing their behavior as I have seen in the past it has been successfull.   All students will begin their day at green.  If a student misbehaves I will verbally give them their 1st warning.  When they misbehave again they will move to yellow, receive another verbal warning and lose a priviledge.  The third inappropriate behavior will move them to red and I will involve their parents.  Students can move backwards on the stoplight if they improve their behavior.

Rewards:

  1. Free and frequent rewards such as high fives, knuckles, smiles, stickers, and pats on the backs.

  2. Intermittent rewards such as free time or other priviledges, parent phone calls or letters home, and student of the week awards.

Consequences:

  1. Receive a verbal warning.

  2. Priviledges will be taken away.

  3. Call or letter home to the parent which will have to be signed and returned.

  4. If behavior continues, the student will ve advised to the office.

"The consequences of an act affect the probability of its occurring again."

B. F. Skinner
